Store update- Orem University Mall

A BIG hello to all of you out there in the blogging world! My name is Shea and I am the Manager at our University Mall, Orem location. This is my first time to ever “blog” and I am so excited that it is about our fabulous store. Our doors opened in January 2008, this was very exciting for us, seeing that our previous location didn’t have any doors... it was only a tiny kiosk! I have to say though, what was even better then having a set of doors, was what was waiting behind the doors…the full line of our Shade merchandise! But wait, it gets even better, in addition to this, there were fitting rooms! This is when the fun really began for us.

Our team of 9 girls has LOVED having the opportunity to help blend your fashion sense with ours. We really enjoy sharing our ideas and even learning some of yours on how to rock the wear. The staff here loves seeing you “strut your stuff down the runway” of our fitting room hall and styling you is the BEST part of our job. We recently had a “fall preview” with several of our other locations, and we cannot wait to get you into our fall products! The girls here agree, this is one of our favorite lines to date. So come in and see us and we will get you looking top-of-the-line for the upcoming season. If you’re ever in the Orem area, we’d love to see you! It’s been fun getting to know the “regulars” and we look forward to developing that same relationship with all of you! Last, I hope you have as much fun in the store as we do!

Wednesday Poll

The September Issue with Anna Wintour

If you know anything about fashion, you know the name Anna Wintour. Time magazine once quoted "She wields considerable influence over American fashion. Runway shows don't start until she arrives. Designers succeed because she anoints them. Trends are created or crippled on her command. But Anna Wintour, editor in chief of Vogue, says she is determined to use her power for good, not evil. Despite her reputation for being icy and inscrutable, despite the severe perfection of her hairstyle and wardrobe, Wintour has taken it upon herself to act as something of a den mother to fledgling designers and worthy causes."
Anna has gone behind the scenes and opened up a bit of her world to us, in a video documentary called The September Issue. It releases in New York City on August 28th and on September 11th in LA and select cities. I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to get a look into Anna's life and the world of fashion at Vogue!

Introducing the Shade Layer Tee

Those of you who loved the Shade baby tee will love the new layer tee, because actually, it is the baby tee you know and love, only with a new name. It is slightly different in that it has an in-set sleeve, and the neckline is scooped a little lower. Be sure to check out this season's new colors! Have a great Monday.

Recipes by CK: Poppyseed Bread

This is always a go-to recipe for me or anyone else in my family. It makes a fantastic gift (I made this for my cake in a jar experiment) or just a really delicious way to gorge yourself on an addictive sweet bread. This is super quick and easy to make and even easier to eat.

3 cups flour
2 ½ cup sugar
1 ½ t. salt
1 ½ t. baking powder
3 eggs
1 ½ cup milk
1 1/8 cup oil
1 ½ T. poppy seeds
1 ½ t. vanilla
1 ½ t. almond extract
1 ½ t. butter flavoring

Mix together and beat 2 minutes. Bake in 2 large loaf pans (greased) at 350 for 1 hour. As soon as out of oven, pour glaze over bread after poking a few holes in bread with toothpick. Be careful to brush it on slowly so that it can be absorbed.

¾ cup sugar
¼ cup orange juice
½ t. vanilla
½ t. almond extract
½ t. butter flavoring

Take out of pans when cooled.

I am happy to say- only 1 more day! Here are a couple more of my favorites that will be here tomorrow- the 3/4 sleeve cardigan and the drape front cardigan. These cardi's are the perfect layering piece for Fall... I think I may even buy all of them in every color! I am obsessed with cardigans right now and they are a staple in every woman's wardrobe, right? I am sure you will fall in love with both of these cardigans, just like I did!

Its Tuesday and only 2 more days! Here's a few fun pieces that will be in stores on Thursday. Introducing our new printed cap sleeve and printed tank. I just love these prints .. the feathers on the cap are light and hip and the spiraled dots on the tank are fun and playful! Our new store in Gilbert, AZ

Last week we relocated our Arizona store to San Tan Village in Gilbert (across from Bath & Body Works). Moving in the Arizona summer heat was an adventure, but everyone survived and the new store is looking good.
