5 Deserving Women

Thanks to everyone who entered! We read some incredible stories and after a very tough decision process came down to 5 Women who we felt were most deserving of these new wardrobes. And the winners are (with a blurb from their nomination)....

Lexie Robinson Austin
Huntsville, AL
"Lexie is a librarian with a mission: to help all children in her community discover the same love of books that she has. She conducts a reader outreach program, that reaches over 700 preschool children, and says "I never knew such poverty existed in my hometown community. I want to do everything I can to give these children a chance to be successful in school and life." She has a hand in many different reading programs and raising awareness for children in need of books. Most recently she has partnered with Barnes & Noble to give all the children in her program a free book for Christmas."

Cindy Pennington

Heber City, UT
"Cindy is the most amazing person, after devastatingly losing two children in a car accident, she has continued taking care of her family without missing a beat. She is forever doing things for others without thinking of herself, and gets up at 4:30 am to do just that. She teaches seminary at Wasatch High School where she loves to work with teenagers. The last thing she ever thinks of is herself."

Sarah Lawson
Liberty, MO
"Not only is Sarah an amazing single mother, but she is a cancer survivor. Sarah was 24 years old, had just given labor to her 2nd child and doctors found a brain tumor. She is now in remission, and is the most independent woman. She has raised two children on her own, and has been a great mom. Sarah recently found out her company will be closing and she will now be looking for a job. Aside from all the things she has been through her selflessness makes her a deserving woman"

Jill Taula
Layton, UT
"Jill's family was recently affected by the Samoan Tsunami, she lost 2 aunts and 5 cousins who were killed walking to school, while many others were badly injured. She recognized that while dealing with the lose of family members the people that survived are left with nothing. Jill organized a grass roots fundraiser and raised money to ship donated goods (clothing, food, supplies, blankets) to family and friends that survived the Tsunami. She had a huge trailer U-haul overflowing of supplies to send. Jill is a loving wife and mother of three boys."

Audra Blackburn

Mobile, AL

"Audra is a fierce, loyal, loving, and positive person. She is a two timer breast cancer survivor, once when she was just 25 years old and again one month before her wedding. Audra is now feeling up to getting out of the house but feels like she has been in pajamas for the past few years. Her husband is a middle school teacher and she has not been able to work. She said she has been forever changed by cancer and doesn't feel like the same person she once was."

Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you thank you to everyone for sending in amazing nominations! Check out KSL Studio 5 on November 6 for a TV segment on our winners and our 5th Anniversary!
